Football club takes place on Tuesdays after school and is run by Premier Sports.
The football club have been working on getting their balls skills even better and challenging themselves to play short games together. The reception children are now joining in and learning to keep control of the ball.
Term 1 2016-17
The football players have been thinking about their shooting and dribbling skills a lot this term. They found that by running with the ball it makes it much harder to control, so needs lots of practise. They have also starting having a go with headers and Mr Cahill explained how they need to use their forehead to hit the ball so that they can see where the ball is going.
As the Euro football matches are taking place this term the football club have been looking at the teams playing in the competition. Each week they have been picking four teams to represent and have been taking part in their own Euro competition. They have also been taking it in turns to be the referees and taking more responsibility.
The football club have a new coach Zack this term as Mr Cahill is off traveling. They have been playing some new games and trying to perfect their skills at running and passing the ball. They like to finish each session with a game, but they like to take their time picking the team first.
The footballers have been thinking about their positional skills during their training sessions, where to be so that another team member can pass the ball to you. Also they have been perfecting their passing skills. They do like to finish each session with a game, which can get quite competitive!
For this term the footballers have been practising their dribbling skills and remembering to use their laces and the inside of their foot! They have been working on ball control and passing the ball into a space for another player. At times it has been very frosty out on the field!
The football club have been working on ball control during their sessions and always like to finish off each week with a quick game!
Term 1 2015-16
There is lots of enthusiasm this term with the football club. They have been playing lots of different games to help them practise their football skills, such as Spiderman tag, cops and robbers, Robin Hood, the number game and cowboys and indians.
