Week begining 30th October
This term’s Christian Value is Compassion and our bible story to focus on that links with this is The Good Samaritan. This week we introduced this story, practised our school values song and launched our Big Freeze topic.
Week beginning 6th November 2017
This week we have been thinking about how we can show compassion to others in need and now have a prayer box so that the children can write prayers at home to show they are thinking of someone who may be having a difficult time at the moment. Emma King also led our worship on Wednesday and talked to us about being kind and helpful and how we can show this outside school. Emma set us a challenge of doing kind and helpful things at home and writing them down for all to see. Emma was very impressed with how well behaved we all are in Christ Church Infants.
Week beginning 13th November 2017
This week we were thinking about our ‘Friendship Week’ and exploring our differences and celebrating that we are all special despite these. We then listened to stories like ‘Mr Big’ showing children how it can feel to be different and to feel self conscious about this. I’m also slightly alarmed to say we started practising our Christmas Carols despite it still being November!
Week beginning 20th November 2017
This week we were thinking about Compassion and how we could dress in our values before school each day to make sure that we showed these values in how we behaved throughout the day. We talked about putting on kindness pants (much to the children’s amusement!), gentleness jumpers and compassion coats. The children also heard the story of The Smartest Giant in Town and how he showed compassion to the animals in the story.
Week beginning 27th November 2017
This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Christian Churches Team who performed their version of the nativity with puppets. The children absolutely love this ‘production’ and we very excited! They behaved as brilliantly as they always do and really showed our visitors how special they are. Belinda Stowe, one of our Foundation Governors, also came in to lead our worship with her puppy puppet Jack to encourage the children to explore forgiveness as part of compassion through the story of the prodigal son.
Week beginning 4th December 2017
This week the children decorated the tree, heard the Nativity Story and practised their Christmas Carols ready for the nativity performances.
Week beginning 11th December 2017
This week we have obviously been very focused on the nativity story and the GLOW team also taught the rest of the school the actions they designed for the school values song. We also said a big well done to the children who achieved well in the infant agility last week.
