World book day

We celebrated World book day in style this year with some amazing costumes.  It was lovely to see all the children and staff taking part and sharing their favourite books.  During collective worship all the children had the opportunity to parade on the stage and show off their costumes, it was really good fun!

The year 2 children had a really special treat, they had a visit from a real author.  We were delighted to welcome Amy Wilson, the author of a children's book 'A girl called owl'.  She read to the children from the book and then talked to them about what her inspiration was and how she came up with ideas for her characters.  The children then brainstormed some ideas for summer and winter.  We even got to meet her special owl friend.  When they went back to their classrooms they had a go at writing their very own book and Amy came round to help them with their ideas. After lunch they took their books to share with their buddies over at CCJ.

Thank you Amy for coming in to join us the children were really inspired, who knows we could also have a future author amongst us!
