Week beginning 3rd September 2019
Term 1 Christian Value – Friendship
This term we will be thinking about how we can demonstrate Friendship to each other using the Bible Story of Zacchaeus as a brilliant example. The story of Zacchaeus tells us about the taxman who wasn’t very kind to people but Jesus shared God’s love with him anyway. Because Jesus showed him love Zacchaeus then changed his behaviour and repaid everyone he had been unkind to. We are hoping the children will see that even if people aren’t always kind to them, by showing them friendship and love hopefully we can help to change other people’s behaviour towards others. Love your neighbour as yourself. Luke 10:27
Week beginning 9th September 2019
This week we have been thinking about how we can show friendship to others even if they are always kind to us. This is a really hard concept for the children so we shared examples people who have been unkind but when people continuously show them kindness eventually they may change their own behaviour. We also started learning about Harvest songs and thought more about the story of Zacchaeus.
Week beginning 16th September 2019
This week we were thinking about how it takes a long time to build someone up but it can take just a few unkind words to knock them down. GLOW team helped me model this brilliantly and I was so impressed with the children's responses when I asked them to think about what they could say to others to encourage them. Cheetah Class have demonstrated really brilliant behaviour in our Collective Worship so far this term (Reception haven't joined us yet) so well done Cheetahs.
Week commencing 23rd September 2019
This week Belinda Stowe, one of our Foundation Governors, came to lead our Values Collective Worship with her puppy puppet Jack. The children have also heard the story of the Reef Cup and the Bible story the Helpful Servant.

This week we had a visit from the Fishponds Foodbank to tell us where your wonderful donations will go and how they will help people. We also heard the story about how Topsy and Tim helped a Friend in need.
Week beginning 21st October 2019
This week Cheetah Class shared their 'talk for writing' performance of the story 'Where the wild things are' by using puppets, actions, acting and their story map to support them telling the whole school the story. This is something we have raised the profile of this year to help the children to grow in confidence in performing to others and to promote the use of 'talk for writing' in their English lessons. We also had a visit from the Road Safety Team to encourage the children to 'Be Safe, Be Seen' in the winter months. We also shared the results of our fun coloured house team day.
