Week beginning 6th November 2018
This week we have introduced the Christian Value for this term which is Compassion. We are linking this to the story of The Good Samaritan so that children can see that we should treat others with kindness and compassion at all times. The children really enjoyed watching the staff act this out on Tuesday! We have also re-introduced our Values Song that was written for us last year by one of our Foundation Governors.
Week beginning 12th November 2018
This week we have been learning about Remembrance Day and celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Armistice. We were so proud of Penny in Y1 for representing our school at the Remembrance Service in Page Park after producing her beautiful artwork. She was very brave in laying a wreath organised very kindly for us by CCJ and representing CCI.
Week beginning 19th November 2018
This week we began practising our Christmas Carols and will be focusing on We Three Kings, Little Donkey, Once in Royal David’s City and Ding Dong Merrily on High. Feel free to practise these at home if you can face it in November! We also learnt about how we could be a good neighbour just like the Good Samaritan and about how we are all the same and all different which also links in with our PSHE Jigsaw theme in EYFS this week. We also talked to the children about how to stay safe online.
Week beginning 26th November 2018
This week we revisited the story of The Good Samaritan and thought about why Christian’s believe Jesus may have told this story. The children seem to have a very good understanding of compassion and I have been particularly impressed to see the care some of our Y2s are showing a child in the EYFS who is finding it difficult to access various parts of the school day. Bible Club also shared their version of the Lord’s Prayer that they have been learning with Helen Buick that had some lovely actions to help the children remember the words.
Week beginning 3rd December 2018
This week we welcomed our Churches Together Team who performed a lovely puppet show of the Nativity story. We also practised our carols, heard the Bible Story of the Kind Stranger and decorated our tree.
Week beginning 10th December 2018
This week we reminded the children about the behaviour we expect to see at lunchtimes including having lovely manners when being served food or helped, sensible behaviour in the hall when eating and showing compassion to each other outside. We also practised our Christmas songs and thought about showing Compassion at Christmas.
