Term 6 - Respect

Week beginning 3rd June 2019

This term’s Christian Value is Respect and we shall be learning about treating others as we’d like to be treated ourselves. The bible story that links with this is ‘Jesus and the Little Children’ and Helen Buick came into school this week to tell this story to the children.

Week beginning 10th June 2019

This week we have been exploring our value of Respect further through thinking about respecting our wider environment and people who have different faiths to ourselves.

Week beginning 17th June 2019

This week we shared our successes from the Festival of Sport and MAD Olympiads, had a visit from Belinda Stowe, one of our Foundation Governors, who told the children the story of Bartimaeus and Jesus showed him respect by noticing, looking, listening and then helping him. We also heard the story about Gilbert the Goat and how he learned to show respect to others.

Week beginning 24th June 2019

This week we thought about valuing others as we would like to be valued and found out about ‘The Golden Rule’ which is a mosaic presented to the United Nations and depicts a wonderful mix of people from different nations standing together with the words: ‘Do unto others as you would have them do to you’. Matthew 7.12.

Week beginning 1st July 2019

This week we have thought about valuing special places and respecting those places and the possessions in them. We also heard a story about showing respect and kindness to others in school and at home.

Week beginning 8th July 2019

This week the children have learnt about valuing different opinions and the Hindu Story of Ratha Yatra - the Hindu Chariot Journey. We also had a bit of a sing-a-long with the microphone which was great fun!
