  • Final goodbye to Miss Evans

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

The time has come for us to say a final goodbye to Miss Evans and I would like to publically thank her for her contributions to CCI. Every one of us will miss her and I know that many of you and your children will too. Miss Evans has a special quality – one where people warm to her instantly, want to talk to her and open up to her and this has made her a superb person to be at the ‘front of house’ at CCI for the last few years. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her and she always finds a way to help if she can, whilst also bringing the humour that we need to keep us all smiling. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the very best at St. Stephen’s Infants and hoping that we see her again soon.  Cath – you are one in a million and it will be a real challenge to replace you at CCI. We are losing a colleague today but gaining a very good friend, thank you for everything.

  • Warmer weather at CCI

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

Please make sure your child wears sun cream to school on hotter days and that they bring a sun hat. They can also wear a long sleeved lightweight top if have particularly fair skin – any top will do, don’t worry about it being school colours.  Sandals are fine please just make sure that children can run around in these. If they have swimming and the cream you have will not withstand being washed off then feel free to send some in in their swimming bags. Children will have to reapply this themselves though as we cannot due to safeguarding guidance. Please name everything!!!

  • EYFS 2021-22 Induction

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

We are so excited to see which children will be joining our CCI family in September and are currently working on an adapted induction for our new Reception children to make sure that they and their families get to know CCI before they start school in September. This will involve visits to school and ‘stay and plays’ on the field along with some virtual events for parents.  More information to follow.

  • Y2 Leavers’ outdoor disco

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

We are planning to hold a disco on the field for our Y2s as their goodbye event so that they can all be together.  Further details of this will follow but it should be a lovely way to say goodbye to our amazing Y2s who have coped with so much during their time here.

  • Sports Day

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

We are unsure as to whether we will be able to invite family members to our sports day this year so I would suggest that you assume this will be a closed event that we hold in school for the children in their year groups without spectators. I am gutted about this but it feels like the safest thing to do at this stage. We will be holding a Sports Week on 21st June where children can be in sports clothing all week and will take part in lots of different events with the sports day itself planned for 22nd June. Classes will compete against each other in a range of inclusive and competitive events. I promise we will take lots of photos for you!

  • Swimming is back!

    Mon 26 Apr 2021

We are delighted that swimming will return to the curriculum at CCI this week and can’t wait for the children to enjoy the beautiful new pool. Huge thanks to Jane Short from First Strokes for funding this project along with the donations made by families over the years.

Here is a bit information for you before your children start to swim at school.

    • EYFS classes will all swim first thing so please send them in with the swimwear on under their clothes, unless they are at breakfast club.
    • All children need to wear their PE uniform to school on their swimming days to make changing easier.
    • All children will need a towel and some suitable swimwear shoes like sliders, crocs or flip-flops to wear around to the pool once they have changed in the classroom.
    • Children can wear goggles if they want to but need to be able to put these on themselves.
    • Children who aren’t swimming first thing will need to bring their towel, swimwear, shoes and goggles/hairbrushes if required in a named bag that can hang on their peg. A drawstring waterproof bag is ideal but please DO NOT buy anything new for this – a plastic bag is also fine!
    • If you have any spare swimwear, swimming shoes, hairdryers or towels we would love to have a small donation for each class as we usually share these between classes but can’t due to COVID.
