  • Collective Worship

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

This week we have talked to the children about ‘Coming to the rescue’ and heard a story about a sheep who was lost and was feeling hungry, cold, afraid and lonely.  A shepherd went looking for the sheep because he cared for him and wanted to help.  We explained to the children that this is showing compassion.  We also heard from CAP and shared the story of the Birth of Jesus.

  • Lost Property

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

There are quite a lot of bits and bobs of lost property around the school. If you are missing anything please check the boxes in your child’s classroom and the box outside the office. Anything left over when we return in January will be given to charity.

  • Admissions 2020

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

As we move into the Christmas period of excitement, just a little reminder that if your child is due to start school in September 2021, you must apply for a school place by the 15th January 2021.

  • Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

    Mon 14 Dec 2020

This week we had a special Collective Worship (assembly) to learn about the brilliant work that CAP do and heard directly from one of our parents, Leyla Fellows, who works for the charity.  The message I wanted the children to take away was that everyone needs help every now and then and even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone.  I encouraged the children to come home and ask to donate one item each to help improve Christmas for people or to use their own money to buy something small to donate.  I did tell them not to worry if they aren’t allowed or can’t do this but I hope you’ll help us to help others.  Instead of running a community kitchen this school holiday we have several systems of donating food and gifts in place and I would urge you to let someone in school know if you are struggling this Christmas and need help.  We have lots of families from CCI who attend Grace Church making donations, CAP are supporting several of our families with your wonderful donations and staff are also collecting goodies to share. We also have food vouchers for all of our families who receive Pupil Premium Funding and will give away the generous donation of Tesco Vouchers from Jason Iles to families who we think might need these.

  • Tier 3 - COVID

    Tue 08 Dec 2020

Nothing has changed in school this week due to Lockdown ending and Tier 3 beginning - we will keep doing what we are doing and continue to do our best to keep everyone safe.  We feel extremely fortunate that we have not had to close any more classes and really hope we can make it to Christmas without any more classes having to isolate. Please continue to be just as careful as you have been and hopefully no-one will be unnecessarily affected.

  • Moments of Joy

    Tue 08 Dec 2020

Our snow machine has arrived which means we will be able to have a really special moment of joy next week by making it snow for every class.  It may be slightly more like a foam party so once we have double checked the weather forecast we will ask you to send in spare clothes in case the children get wet.  We are planning for Friday 11th, weather permitting.

  • Y2 phonics screening

    Tue 08 Dec 2020

We would like to say a very big well done to all of our Year 2 children this week as they have now completed the phonics screening that they missed in Year 1. We are so impressed with how the children have coped with this, with how much progress they have made and how many have passed the screening or come very close despite having missed months of school.  We will be in touch with parents in the new year with the results for your individual children - they have the advantage this year that if they were not ready to read all of the words that they were shown they can have another go before the end of the year. Well done to our Year 2 children and to our staff who have worked so hard to support the children to make such brilliant progress!

  • Reminder-one way system around the school.

Tue 08 Dec 2020 Lucy May

Can we please remind all parents and carers that we are still using the one way system around school? If you could make sure you enter the school grounds at the front gates and leave through the back gate by the church please. If you could all make sure that you leave the school site promptly after collecting or dropping off your child so that we can make sure our staggered start/finish times are effective and help to keep everyone safe. Please make sure that the back gate is kept clear.

  • Crisp Packet Donations

Tue 08 Dec 2020 Lucy May

Please keep the crisp packets coming in. We are well on the way to finishing our 3rd insulated blanket for the homeless.

In addition, if anyone has any clear soft plastic they could also donate, that would be amazing. Either large clear plastic bags or large sheets of clear plastic wrappings (from multipack toilet rolls for example). We will then iron this onto each blanket to give it longevity. Please leave all crisp packets and plastic in the box by reception. THANK YOU

  • Message from Christ Church…. Messy Christingle Service

Tue 08 Dec 2020 Lucy May

Wed 9 Dec 4.30 pm in church

Families are invited to share in this service together which celebrates Jesus' birth and also spotlights the valuable work of The Children's Society. Christingles are a well loved tradition with a 2020 twist: families will sit at tables and make their own orange "Christingle" craft together. We provide the materials, you have the fun making and God breathes joy into our hearts!

Booking is essential. COVID measures in place. Book here: Messy Christingle
