  • CCI Wonder Day 2022

Thu 26 May 2022 Mrs Martin

We have had such a wonderful day at CCI creating our own Van Gogh masterpieces and genuinely were astounded by the quality of the art the children produced.

It was smiles all round from the staff and the children and we are all very grateful to Mr Jones for organising such a fabulous 'Wonder Day' and for teaching the staff the steps to make sure children felt success as an artist.

My favourite part of the day was when Charlie in Cheetah Class, who was so proud of his art work, told me that his whole class had said that they thought his was brilliant and he couldn’t stop smiling.

  • Every Child is an Artist at CCI - Awe and Wonder Day - Thursday 26th

Wed 25 May 2022 Mr Jones

Every child is an artist at CCI!

As part of our 'Awe and Wonder' days this term, every child will be painting their own 'Sunflowers' Canvas, modelled on the famous artwork by Vincent Van Gogh. So that every child can be an artist, the Friends very kindly bought a small canvas for each child and these will be displayed at Christ Church on Friday, the last day of term.

The children will be going over to the church to look at the exhibition of their art work with their classes during the afternoon. I would also like to invite all of the parents to our 'Awe and Wonder Day' exhibition where you can see the children's beautiful art. Please come over to the church between 2.45-3.15pm on Friday 27th before pick-up.

Our AMAZING choir will also be singing a song from our wonder day at some point between 2.45-3.15pm. Please do pop in and listen to them and see the fantastic artwork!

Special thanks to Mr Jones and Mrs Dickinson for leading their excellent sessions and for staff being available in their rooms. Thanks also to staff for serving drinks and running the childcare.

  • Queen's Jubilee Art Competition

Thu 12 May 2022 Mr Jones

Some of our entries for the John Lewis Jubilee competition. What incredible artists we have a CCI! You still have time to send these in.

  • Enrichment Day

Tue 10 May 2022 Mr Jones

On Friday 27th May (the last day of Term 5) we will be celebrating the Jubilee and having an enrichment day as our second Awe and Wonder day.

In the morning every class will do two different sessions such as science experiments, cooking, gardening or inclusive sport activities they may not have done before. We are focusing on extending children’s experiences and promoting inclusivity and diversity. They will do activities with their own teacher and TA in their class and the second with the teacher and TA in the class next door.

For the Jubilee, if the weather allows, we plan to recreate a street party in the playground and the kitchen team will be serving a special lunch outside. We thought it would be fun if the children wore some red, white and/or blue as it is a non-uniform day.

The Friends are then holding a Jubilee event after school in the playground too. Further details are on the newsletter. You don’t need to do anything other than have a search for any clothing with some red, white or blue on. Clothes need to be practical in case children are learning outside. Face paints, hats and flags obviously welcome!

  • Amazing recounts of their school trip!

Fri 06 May 2022 Mr Jones

Look at some of the amazing recount writing about the school trip that some of our Y2s have done this week! They were so proud to have earnt HT awards and were very excited about their brilliant writing being shown to you all on here!

  • Swimming sessions start again

Tue 03 May 2022 Mr Jones

Zebras and Giraffes started their T5 swimming with us today and it was wonderful to see them having so much fun whilst learning some new skills.

Once again it encourages us to reflect on how lucky we are to be able to give all of the children this experience that broadens their personal development in a way not all infant settings can.

  • Year 1 first 'proper' trip at CCI - SS Great Britain

Tue 03 May 2022 Mrs Martin

It was lovely to see our very excited Y1 children set off on their first ever proper CCI school trip this morning! Lots of children were telling me that they had never been on a coach and they were all smiles as you can see. This is yet another landmark moment for us as we can easily forget the impact COVID has had on our children until moments and experiences like these and I felt rather emotional waving them off!

I am sure that they will have a brilliant day and do us proud. Thank you to our lovely parent helpers for giving up their time and to Mrs Rylands for organising the trip and the office team for all of their hard work in making it happen.
