  • CCI Turns Red to show racism the red card!

Thu 20 Oct 2022 Mr Jones

Today CCI turned red to help to stamp out racism and ‘show it the red card’. It was made really meaningful for the children as Princess Campbell’s grandson, Luke, came to meet the Y1 and 2 children as part of their learning about black history. The children have loved learning about Princess Campbell, who was Bristol’s first black ward sister, and had lots of questions for Luke.

Thank you to Miss Essex for organising Luke’s visit and to you all for sending the children in red clothes.

  • KS1 Trip to Techniquest

Wed 19 Oct 2022 Mr Jones

KS1 really enjoyed their trip to Techniquest in Cardiff today! What a brilliant way to start the next enquiry ‘What might I do in the future?’

The children all behaved brilliantly and the staff felt very proud of them all.

Thank you to Mrs Rylands for organising the trip and to all of our amazing parent helpers for coming along. We feel so lucky to be able to provide such exciting opportunities for the children that are so fun but also so central to their learning coming up.

  • CSET Target Festival

Tue 18 Oct 2022 Mrs Martin

These brilliant KS1 children represented our school in the CSET Target Festival last night after school. They did so well and showed such resilience as most schools and teams of 8 so they had to work twice as hard.

Please look out for emails inviting your children to these events as it is really important that our school is represented locally and they are such great fun. They are really inclusive but also competitive so a fantastic opportunity for all children.

Thanks to Mrs Botteley for her endless championing of sport and organising such excellent events.

  • A harvest hamper for our neighbours!

Mon 17 Oct 2022 Mr Jones

These wonderful Y2s took a harvest hamper of donations over to the residential home Britannia Court at the back of our school today. Thank you to Mrs Courtney for organising this, it means such a lot to our wonderful elderly neighbours.

  • Pumpkin soup anyone?

Mon 17 Oct 2022 Mr Jones

Today some of our Y1 children made some Pumpkin soup with Miss Llewellyn showing off their food engineering skills. They were the perfect chefs as they even did the washing up! The taste test gave mixed results but they all definitely enjoyed the croutons even if they were not so keen on the soup.

  • Year 1 portraits of Princess Campbell

Fri 14 Oct 2022 Mrs Martin

Our Y1 children have enjoyed being artists and historians this week as they furthered their learning about Princess Campbell, Bristol’s first black ward sister. What amazing portraits Y1s!

  • Inspirational Paralympian Jack Rutter visits CCI

Tue 04 Oct 2022 Mr Jones

This week children were fortunate enough to meet the inspirational Paralympic footballer and coach Jack Rutter. Jack is taking the children through their paces for their Olympic fundraiser and it's safe to say they were all exhausted but very, very happy!

They learnt a lot about resilience and how to overcome adversity as Jack told them about his accident that prevented him from becoming a premier league footballer for Birmingham City FC and what he then went on to achieve.

I've attached some photos of the Y2s in their session with Jack. The children moved forwards a row at a time so if you notice the children watching at the back this is because they were on a rotation of activities and having a much needed rest and building up their resilience!
