  • Newly appointed School Business Manager (SBM)

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

I am delighted to tell you that we shall be welcoming Miss Cath Evans back to CCI in September as she was successfully appointed into the role of SBM last week. As you know Miss Evans moved to St. Stephen’s Infants for a promotion but when she saw the similar vacancy at CCI she just had to try and come back as she has missed us all so much and feels this is where she belongs.

  • Summer Reading Challenge

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

Downend Library will soon be starting the Summer Reading Challenge 2021. In fact it's already started.

An article is attached for your school newsletter if you can include it. Reading has provided such a vital escape for children (and adults!) over the past year that we hope children will enjoy it even more if they take part in the challenge as they get rewards for each book read.

  • OCOSC Charity Raffle

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

The raffle is to raise money for OCOSC who are a charity.  The Charity have provided childcare to many parents over the years and kept providing childcare throughout the Pandemic (which allowed some key workers to get to work who otherwise would not have been able to).  This however meant they were running at a loss for a long time as they were looking after very small numbers of children over multiple sites.  We now need to try and raise money to keep them going!

If you know anyone / any businesses who is / are able to donate any prizes, I will not say no!!

So far we have a first prize of a Dyson Supersonic hairdryer.  We also have a Slushie maker and a cake to be made at your requested date by My Little Lily cakes. We’re really hoping to add more prizes in the

The chairs will be spaced out on the field deliberately to create social distancing so please do not move these.  Mrs. Martin will let you in and you can go straight down to the field so there is no need for you to come into the school building. • Mon 12th & Wed 14th July 3.20-4pm Visit new classes for YR, Y1 and Y2

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

Please chose ONE of the dates above to collect your child from school (and junior siblings first if you need to) and then go to your child’s new class after school to meet the new staff.

You do not have to stay for the full amount of time, in fact its better if you don’t to reduce numbers of people inside.   We have two dates available so that hopefully every parent can attend – this is not designed for you to go twice.  This is the time to introduce yourself to the teachers as they will have already met your child on Friday 9th July.   The animals are all shown above the classroom doors so you should be able to find them ok.

Our new reception children have booked spaces, so we could limit numbers, this was via Eventbrite, you will have been emailed your tickets.

  • Mrs Martin’s weekly update:

    Mon 12 Jul 2021

As we edge nearer to the end of term the children are getting more excitable, more tired and definitely more emotional and it’s safe to say that a certain England v Denmark result hasn’t helped!!!  We are fully embracing this ‘excitement’ at CCI however and the children have loved watching the highlights of the Euros and writing letters of advice to the England team before Sunday’s final.   This week our Y2s finally made it over to CCJ now that all of their classes have returned and there were no known positive cases and they loved playing outside and exploring the grounds.  Our EYFS and Y1 children also all really enjoyed meeting their new teachers in story times and visiting their new classes this week.

We topped off an exhausting week with a Euros carnival celebration on Friday afternoon where children performed the ‘Wave your flag’ song they have been practicing and shared their beautiful flags that they frantically waved throughout!  Thanks to Miss. Gould for organising such a fun musical event.
