  • Getting to School

    Mon 08 Mar 2021

With the majority of pupils returning to school from today and the weather looking fair, it’s a great opportunity to encourage and remind your pupils and parents to think about their journey to and from school, South Glos Road Safety have put together a short video to highlight the importance and benefit of active travel.

I would be grateful if the below link can be sent out to all parents/Pupils to give everyone an opportunity to plan their return journey.

  • Science Week - Message from Mrs Mills

    Mon 08 Mar 2021

Not only is next week the fantastic topic launch for those children returning to school but it is also British Science Week (5th - 14th March).  The theme this year is 'innovating for the future'.   In keeping with this theme and also linking to our topic of survival, the children will be asked to think about how they could survive on Mars.  They will design and make their own space stations using junk modelling.  Therefore, over the next few days could you please keep any cardboard boxes, toilet rolls, yoghurt pots or plastic containers that you could save from your recycling and send into school to help the children with their projects.  We hope to make the week as fun as possible with practical experiments and cross-curricular links to science.  We will be talking about fascinating people in science and engineering that have made such a difference to our lives. Through story time, we hope to share some inspiring stories around this theme.  If your child has a book they would love to share, they are welcome to bring these into school.

  • Updated guidance for keeping children safe online

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

The DfE have updated their guidance for parents and carers to keep children safe online. The measures announced over recent weeks to tackle coronavirus (COVID-19), although essential, have disrupted people’s day-to-day lives. As a result of these necessary measures, almost all of us are likely to be spending more time online, including children. This guidance contains resources for parents and carers to help keep their children safe online.

  • After school sports clubs – Term 5

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

We are really keen to restart some sporting after school clubs so will be starting with dance and football with Karen Davis and Premier Sport.  We will be running these for a year group at a time so will not start these for Reception yet as are not 100% sure they will cope with the classes having to stay apart in the clubs and adhere to the social distancing required.  Further details to follow but we think it will be Y1 football on Mon, Y1 Dance Mash-up on Tuesday, Y2 football on Wednesday and Y2 Dance Mash-up on Thursday.  Watch this space and Term 6 will have more variety and hopefully some clubs for Reception.  We are also hoping that all children will be able to start swimming during the school day after Easter.

  • Parent/Carer consultations

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

We wanted to wait to hold these once your children were back in school so that we can tell you how they are doing academically and socially.  These will be held via Zoom once again on Monday 29th March in the morning and Wednesday 31st March after school – booking details to follow.  Next week you will receive a one page report that shows you how they were doing before Christmas.

  • World Book Day

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

We have debated long and hard what to do about the usual dressing up day as a book character and figured you could all do without having to make or buy costumes at the moment, especially if your children are at home.  Instead we thought we could have a fun dressing up day on the last day of this term on Wed 31st March. We thought the children and staff could come in camouflage/survival clothing which can literally be green/brown clothes and some leaves and face paints/mud on their faces. They could also come as an animal you may find in the wild, an explorer, hiker or safari guide. This will celebrate the end of a really fun topic and mean they all get to dress up in school for the day. To celebrate world book day we have lots planned but one thing you may like to know about in advance is that children can choose to make a book character out of toilet roll or potato (random we know!) Your children can either bring these in if in school or you can send us photos. There will also be a masked reader quiz from the staff for the children to enjoy.
