Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Lyla in Tiger class and her little sister Rosie are spending the month of May raising funds for Leukemia UK in memory of their Mum’s brother’s friend. They will be taking part in a 100 hours of litter picking all across Bristol and the surrounding area.
Last week the thankfulness award for the children goes to Stanley in Y1 and the whole of Lion Class.
Stanley thanked his teacher for looking after them all, really demonstrating thankfulness. Well done Stanley!
Lion Class have been nominated by their Lunchbreak Supervisor, Mrs Smallman, as she said they consistently show thanks at lunchtimes for things like drinks and tomato ketchup which she helps them with. Well done Lions!
Last week we had a mock Ofsted inspection into Music as one of the things that Ofsted will now do is focus on a couple of non-core subjects during an inspection.
Miss Gould is our Music lead and she and two other teachers were observed teaching music. Miss Gould also talked to the visiting team about her leadership of music and how her focus is on differentiation and performance.
The inspectors also chatted to children about what they thought of music in school. The feedback was superb with particular praise on consistency, behaviour, performance and pastoral support for vulnerable pupils.
Miss Gould and the team who were involved should feel incredibly proud of their efforts as should the children for how they behaved on the day and engaged in lessons.
A massive thanks to the team!
Mrs Martin
Last week has been a busy week where we feel we have crammed 5 days into 4 but has been another brilliant week at CCI. The behaviour has continued to be of a very high standard across the school and I have been so impressed with the quality of writing that I have seen, especially in EYFS.
I would like to say a very big thank you to Mrs Orr who has been covering the Admin Assistant vacancy as well as doing her own role until Miss Lumbard starts this week. She has also been working so hard on getting computers back to staff and we are all very grateful to her.
School Governors play a vital part of our school community and locally schools are always eager to make sure their governing body is full with people with lots of various skills. If you are interested in hearing more, then check out the Governors for schools website.
Physically active schools keep children and staff mentally healthy as well as physically.
This term, @schoolgovnet’s campaign #WellbeingGovernors focuses on the connection
between physical & mental health, and how governors can support with both:
We know that lots of families have faced massive changes in home life over the course of the last year. If you circumstances have changed, then please consider applying for Free School meals*, as children will then become eligible for other funding in school, Pupil Premium. School can use this money to benefit children, we also use some of the funding for a uniform package.
(*This is different funding from the Universal Free School Meals that all Reception-Y2 children can receive)
We are delighted to tell you that we have appointed Miss Megan Lumbard to replace Miss Cath Evans in the office Wednesday to Friday. She will be starting at CCI on Wednesday 12th May and we are really looking forward to you all getting to know her. She has lots of experience in a school office and we think she will be a great addition to our staff team. This means we have a couple of weeks with just Mrs Orr or myself in the office Wednesday to Friday so please be patient with us!
This week Mr Jones and I have met with CCJ staff to discuss how we will make sure the Y2s have an effective transition to CCJ for Y3 whilst still following COVID guidelines. Further details will follow but we think we have found ways for them to hopefully have a couple of visits in Term 6, with phone calls from staff to parents and a virtual tour/meeting with Mrs Osborne.
Children will only need to bring one snack a day in with them, as we have plenty of fruit to give them for the second snack time, if you forget a snack or water don’t worry we can supply that for the children.
You may have already had the opportunity to download the new app and log in, if you have brilliant! It is the same system that the juniors are rolling out so you will be able to see messages for all children from both schools one place for the first time.
Your welcome email may go into your junk/spam folders, so please check.
You can change contact information, addresses, add new people to pick up etc.
During the course of the next year this will be replace the ‘school app’.
