Tue 17 Nov 2020 Lucy May

    Calling all crisp lovers!!!

We are on a mission to make 20 insulated blankets for the homeless in Bristol this winter.  It takes 150 empty packets to be ironed together to make 1 blanket so we need your help to collect 5000 wrappers.  Please wash your packets in warm soapy water and then place them in the box by reception.  Thank you so much in advance.

Re: Changes to CCI and CCJ COVID procedures

    Dear Parent and Carers,

We wanted to write to you to express how pleased we are that our schools will remain open despite the proposed lockdown from Thursday 5th November for a minimum of 4 weeks.  We are relieved that the children’s education and need to be with their peers has been prioritised and that children will be given the opportunity to stay at school.

Both schools have made the provision for children and buildings as safe as we feel we can, whilst maintaining a ‘normal’ feel for the children and we will continue to do this throughout this lockdown period.

    There are couple of changes we’d now like to make to add another layer of safety to protect staff, children and yourselves and hope that you will support us with this;

    • Staff face coverings - All staff will now be expected to wear visors or a masks when greeting families and talking to visitors (CCJ have already done this).  This means that teachers and TAs will have face coverings on when they are on the classroom doors in the mornings and after school and so will the Heads and Deputies when greeting you outside. Office staff will also put these on when talking to you at the hatch if you need to come into school.  We are enabling all staff to wear these whilst teaching but are not enforcing this as it can make teaching children very challenging.

    • Face Masks - We’d really appreciate it if all parents/carers and anyone who is bringing the children to school and collecting them at the end of the day wear face masks.  We know that you are outside but there are areas around the school sites that can become congested and we feel this would help make the sites even safer.  This won’t be something we enforce and if you happen to forget please don’t feel you have to go home to collect one but if you can make every attempt to wear one on site we would be very grateful.

    • Warm clothing – As the Government advice is to keep all rooms ventilated, classrooms will increasingly feel slightly chilly at times, despite the heating being on. Please layer children up with vests and multiple layers so that they can continue to feel warm.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions about these changes. We understand that some of these measures are frustrating but they are entirely for the safety of our community so please continue to bear with us as we do everything we can to avoid closing classes and thank you in advance for supporting us make our schools feel even safer.

    Kind regards,

    Pippa Osborne and Anna Martin

    Heads at CCJ and CCI

  • Goodbye to Katie Rankin Chair of The Friends

    Tue 13 Oct 2020

It is with much love that we say thank you and goodbye to Katie, who has been a fantastic chair to our friends committee for the past few years.  Katie has been instrumental in organising fun events that raise money for the school and bring us together as a school community and we will really miss working with her.  Katie – thank you for everything you have done for the children, staff and parents/carers at CCI – we will miss you!

  • Goodbye to Governors Nick Richley and Nick Lee

    Tue 13 Oct 2020

It has been a week of goodbyes for us as we also say a very sad goodbye to our Chair of Governors, Nick Richley, and our Chair of the Finance Committee, Nick Lee.  Nick Richley has been our Chair for 4 years and has been a Governor for 7 years.  He has provided inspirational leadership for the school and particularly the senior leadership team and has transformed how the Governors work as a team.  They are now always focused on the school vision and how they can support and challenge the school strategically and much of this is down to Nick.  We are extremely fortunate that Julie Wilkins, one of our parents in Penguin Class, has agreed to take on the Chair role and know that she will do an incredible job.  Nick Lee also leaves us now that his children are no longer at CCI (they are in Y5 now so he hung around for a bit!) and he leaves our governing body after bringing great deal of humour, knowledge and support to the team.  Both Nicks’ have been superb to work with and shall be greatly missed by our Governing body and the whole staff team.
