Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
All of the children in Year 1 and Year 2 had the opportunity to go and explore Brunel's SS Great Britain. Here are some fabulous photos of them enjoying their trip to the SS Great Britain to learn about how Brunel changed Britain.
These photos really do show how venues like this provide so much more for school trips so the children learn so much even if they have visited before.
Thank you to Mrs Rylands for organising these trips and to our many helpers who came long on the day.
We finally made it to the school field for our playtimes after what has felt like months of rain! It felt so special and the children were very excited!
It was helpful that Y2s were on their trip so that it was a bit quieter for EYFS to get used to the new routine.
Today our EYFS children were learning about the creation story as part of their RE, when they were being philosophers.
They also shared spiritual moments of cloud gazing, blowing bubbles thinking about where they’d go if they could float anywhere on one, exploring how beetroot seeds look and grow and decorating the Rainbow Fish thinking about valuing everyone.
What a special morning showing off our RE provision to a Challenge Support Partner, who was guided expertly by our RE lead, Mrs Jenkins.
Here are a few photos of our EYFS children enjoying their brilliant trip to Court Farm. They had such a brilliant time and even had the opportunity to feed the new lambs!
Penguin Class were being artists today and made the most amazing Egg Box Dragons as part of their learning about their latest text. They were absolutely engrossed when I popped in and then couldn’t wait to show me their dragons. Learning at its best!
We had so much fun on our athlete day and were inspired by Sports Champion Rob Mitchell who told us about how he became an athlete. He certainly put us all through our paces and the children did a full on workout to some dance music - what’s not to love?! Mr Jones even got dragged up to show off his press ups!
Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donations - you raised over £800! Half of which goes to fund athletes and half goes to our school.
Year 1 and 2 children really enjoyed learning about why Easter is important so important to Christians this week. Here are some photos of Cheetah Class being led through the meaning of Easter in and around our beautiful Church. Thank you to Harriet and the wonderful team at Christ Church for working with the children so wonderfully.
Our GLOW (group leading our worship) team went over to Christ Church today with Mr Jones to work alongside the CCJ GLOW team meeting some of the people from Christ Church Downend. They had a great time playing some classic games with the community and were such good ambassadors for CCI. Great work team!
On Monday, we were lucky enough to have a silly science day at CCI as the start of Science Week. The children loved their workshops but especially enjoyed the exploding coke and mento experiment. These workshops encouraged the children to be curious and to marvel at the wonderful world around them, giving them some lovely spiritual moments.
Thank you so much to Miss Gould, our lead scientist, for organising a brilliant week.
Today our Y6 children came back from CCJ to read to our Y1 and 2 children in a giant reading cafe. We were so impressed to see how the Y6s took this so seriously and really supported any children who were a bit nervous of these giants
Thank you to CCJ staff for bringing them over, to Mrs Rylands for organising and to our Y6s for being amazing!
