Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Y2 were being brilliant artists last week as they learnt to use shading to create light and shade on their drawings. This art was as part of their enquiry ’what grows around me?’
We had some exciting news in EYFS!!!! Finally, the eggs have hatched and our first baby chicks have arrived! Miss Robbins has been looking after them over the bank holiday at home, but they are now back in school. The children are really enjoying watching them grow and thinking about how to look after them. We would love the children to write down their ideas for names!
We had such a wonderful Big Lunch outside today to celebrate the King's Coronation. The school turned red, white and blue as we enjoyed eating and dancing outside and playing on the field for the first time this year due to all of the rain.
A huge thank you to our wonderful catering team who always go above and beyond to make events like this really special for the children and to Miss Lumbard and our lunchtime team for helping me to get all of the tables, decorations, food and music outside. It was definitely worth the effort!
Zebra Class were amazing tonight at the KS1 sports festival. They showed great coordination, speed and resilience and ended up winning the whole competition! AMAZING!
We had falls and really tricky skipping but nothing stopped these Zebras who gave it 100%. It is true... Zebras never give up!
Big thanks to Miss Mackay and Miss Gould for going with the children and for supporting them so well and to our lovely parents who cheered the children on so brilliantly.
We were very excited today to launch our new Y2 lunch time Art club!
The children had a great time being artists and decorating their own flower pots by pouring liquid paints over them - What a great effect! They also worked as a team to decorate a larger version that they will be using over the 6 sessions to create a joint art project. Watch this space to see how the project turns out!
I'd also like to thank to the parents and staff that are supporting the children each week in Art club. Your help and support is very much appreciated!
We had an inspirational visit from Bart Gee today in assembly. Bart was born with a rare physical disability called Arthrogryposis which means that he has weak muscles and stiff joints. After Bart was born, doctors said he would never walk and may not ever have the strength to be able to sit up independently, and he would have a bleak outlook to life.
Bart encouraged the children to see things being hard or difficult as a possibility. They were amazed by what he had achieved and loved it when he played the piano for them.
Bart has achieved so much that no one thought he would so please do look him up on YouTube if you want to know more.
Thank you to Mrs Dickinson for arranging this.
I had to share this amazing home for a chick that one of our EYFS children made today as part of their enquiry learning about how we can care for pets. They carried it in so carefully so as not to spill the water and disturb anything and had planned it so carefully before the build.
The lucky chick, named Ivor, even had a toy!
Huge well done to our EYFS children who represented CCI at their first CSET festival after school tonight. They did absolutely brilliantly and really showed everyone what CCI is made of. Thank you to our families for taking the children along, their big brothers and sisters for supporting so well and to Miss Robbins and Miss Mackay for supporting the children.
Congratulations to our amazing CCI choir for their wonderful performance at the concert last night. They sang so proudly and we really hope everyone enjoyed seeing them perform. Thank you to Miss Gould for doing such a wonderful job with them all and to so many of you who were able to come and support the children.
Penguin Class have been busy creating eggs for the community Easter Eggs trail and yesterday some of Penguin Class went into Downend for a photo shoot to promote the opening of the trail. The eggs will now be displayed around Downend so we hope you enjoy spotting them all... There is even a prize draw that you can enter if you manage to find them all so get hunting!
