  • Y2 Geographers

    Thu 23 Mar 2023 A Martin

This week our Y2 children have been enjoying being Geographers and Musicians as part of their enquiry 'Where is my school?'. The children created soundscapes which involved them identifying which sounds they could hear around the school and local area.

Then they traced aerial photographs of the school and local area and recorded the sounds and local landmarks on them, using tracing paper and natural light. The Duck & Willow and Mokka seemed to feature quite heavily on the maps - no judgment here! :)

  • What a drama!!

    Fri 17 Mar 2023 A Martin

We had so much fun in our drama workshops this week at CCI! The smiles say it all so thank you so much to Miss Robbins for organising this. This was a freebie in exchange for the flyers you have hopefully received this week.

It was a very cold day for EYFS at the farm today but they had a wonderful time despite the snow! Thank you to our many volunteers and staff who did their best to keep the children warm today and to Miss Robbins for organising the trip as part of the children’s enquiry ‘How can we care for pets?’

This time last year we had to take sun cream!!!

  • Enrichment Morning

    Mon 13 Feb 2023 G Jones

What an amazing last day of Term 3 we had at CCI! We broke the rules, learnt new things, danced and sang in karaoke assembly and celebrated some brilliant behaviour and attitudes to learning with hot chocolate awards.

Thank you to you wonderful parents for giving so generously for the children to be able to break the rules whilst raising money and to the staff for making lovely memories for the children whilst enriching their learning and encouraging them to see things from a different perspective. Our enrichment morning was amazing with so many different activities for the children to experience such as caring for animals, being inspired by art from different cultures, thinking about what it might be like to use a wheel chair and getting outside for some forest schools work. A great way to finish off the term!

  • Internet Safety Day

    Wed 08 Feb 2023 A Martin

Our internet safety day was such a success today so we’d like to say a huge thank you to Miss Essex for organising it - her hard work and creative planning is so appreciated. We would also like to thank the many parents who came along to the parent and child session. Final thanks go to our Chair of Governors, Chris Douglas, who brought along a colleague to lead a session for each class about online safety and basic coding. We hope the children all took something away from the day…I know I did! I especially loved the home made laptops and mobile phones!

  • Welcome to Rev Daniel Watts and his family to the Christ Church community

    Thu 02 Feb 2023 A Martin

Mrs Osborne, the Headteacher at CCJ, and I were lucky enough to be invited along to Christ Church this week to welcome the new vicar, Reverend Daniel Watts, along with his wife Julia and many of their friends to the Christ Church community. The church was full of celebration as we sang and shared prayers to welcome Dan and his family. He will be popping into school once he has settled in to meet the children and staff.

  • Year 2 Engineers and Geographers

    Tue 31 Jan 2023 G Jones

Y2 have created some fantastic moving mechanism pictures whilst being engineers and geographers for the challenge at the end of their enquiry 'How do things move?'. They were inspired by their visits to Page Park and the pop-up books that they evaluated at the very beginning of the enquiry.
