Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We will be continuing with a staggered school day to encourage fewer people on the school site at once but, just like CCJ, we will be changing this slightly for Term 6. From Monday 7th June please follow the follow the guidance below;
|
All children will now need to arrive at school between 8.50am and 9.00am. Tiger Class will need to enter the classroom from the front playground like Panda and Lion classes do. |
|
All children will need to be collected between 3.05pm and 3.15pm. |
|
CCJ will be doing 8.45-8.55am for drop-off and 3.15-3.25pm for pick-up so if you have children at both schools please make sure you make these timings work for you. You should no longer need to drop earlier than 8.50am or collect children after 3.15pm as the schools have liaised on this together to make it work for all. |
|
If you will be collecting a child before 3.15pm because you have to go to CCJ to collect please let your child’s class teacher know so that we can make sure children are ready. It will really help us if you keep this routine the same each day. |
|
All families must drop off and pick-up quickly just as you do now. This will help reduce people on site. It also helps with just one adult per family. |
|
We will be encouraging you all too still enter through the front gate and leave through the back gate. This one-way system has worked brilliantly and has really prevented congestion outside Crocodile Class and parents having to walk too close together. |
|
Parents with children at CCJ can of course continue to use the front gate for all access to travel more quickly between the schools. |
|
Even if you do see some families using the wrong gate or walking the wrong way, if you have time please follow the system we have asked, as even if most people follow the guidance it will help. |
|
Face masks are still required by all adults on site unless they are exempt. Staff will continue to wear these when greeting families and around the school but most will not wear them in classrooms. |
Whole class photos tomorrow - we’ll make sure classes don’t swim before theirs don’t worry!
We have asked that any children who missed their individual photos due to isolating or illness earlier in the year can have one tomorrow but will have to see how we go with time.
If they have PE or swimming children should still wear uniform. EYFS can wear swimmers underneath and Cheetahs can change later. Children doing PE can just do it in their uniform as a one-off as most parents prefer them to be in uniform for photos.
Best smiles and hair styles at the ready!
We know that there is a lot of talk around Monkhouse on social media and being really slow at getting orders to us etc.
With regards to this, I have been working with a local supplier and they will have a webpage ready for us by Friday, which we will share on the newsletter, they will have logo'd uniforms available and will offer free delivery to school.
This will mean we will have three options for logo'd uniform:
Monkhouse
UnicornWorkwear
MYClothing
As well as the non-branded supermarket clothes. We hope that this works for all families in that all uniform is then considered to be suitable for every child.
Friends Scarecrow hunt
One of our lovely grandparents is running a plant stall to raise some additional funds during the scarecrow trail for both schools this weekend. This will be at 23 South View so make sure you take some money with you if you’d like to buys some plants!
Lyla in Tiger class and her little sister Rosie are spending the month of May raising funds for Leukemia UK in memory of their Mum’s brother’s friend. They will be taking part in a 100 hours of litter picking all across Bristol and the surrounding area.
We made a huge start this weekend but any support would be gratefully received.
We are delighted to share with you that Mrs Rylands has achieved the NPQSL (National Qualification for Senior Leaders) award. This is thoroughly deserved after all her hard work and she has really had an impact on reading in the school as the focus part of her assessment.
Congratulations Mrs Rylands!
If your child receives benefits-related free school meals, your school will issue a £15 supermarket e-voucher for May/June half term. This has already been sent out to families.
This is a new Covid Local Support Grant offer to families. If you have any questions about free school meals in term-time or during holidays, please contact your child’s school. You can find more details of further financial support available here-Click Here
It seems far too soon to be telling you this as it won’t happen until July but unfortunately we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Jackie Orr, our fantastic School Business Manager, at the end of the academic year. Mrs Orr has been appointed as Senior Finance Lead Officer for the Academies Enterprise Trust, a group of 58 schools. This is a huge promotion and a very well deserved reward for all her hard work at CCI. Jackie has been by my side in the office for the past 5 years, as Clerk to Governors since 2013 and I shall miss her terribly on a personal and professional level. She has been instrumental in making sure that our limited school budget has balanced each year, managing our school refurb a few years ago, helping us get through the ransomware attack and helped us navigate the minefield that COVID has brought.
We will be advertising this post on Eteach very soon so please share it when you see it on our Facebook page and get in touch if you are interested in this post and wish to discuss this with me.
From the last week of term (24th May onwards) swimming will need to move to the mornings for all classes due to our student teachers leaving. The days will remain the same but if you are a helper please speak to your teachers about new times and see if you can still help.
We really appreciate you all coming in each week and the children are loving swimming so thank you for your continued support.
Children have the challenge, over half term, to think of a scientific question they could investigate. It can literally be anything. They carry out an investigation to find the answer to their question and then create a short 1 minute film clip to present. Each school judges the entries and then the winner from each school goes through to the final. We are gathering together potential prizes too... as well as the acclaim that Mark Carwardine has seen you present a science enquiry!
