Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We are delighted to tell you that we have appointed Miss Megan Lumbard to replace Miss Cath Evans in the office Wednesday to Friday. She will be starting at CCI on Wednesday 12th May and we are really looking forward to you all getting to know her. She has lots of experience in a school office and we think she will be a great addition to our staff team. This means we have a couple of weeks with just Mrs Orr or myself in the office Wednesday to Friday so please be patient with us!
This week Mr Jones and I have met with CCJ staff to discuss how we will make sure the Y2s have an effective transition to CCJ for Y3 whilst still following COVID guidelines. Further details will follow but we think we have found ways for them to hopefully have a couple of visits in Term 6, with phone calls from staff to parents and a virtual tour/meeting with Mrs Osborne.
Children will only need to bring one snack a day in with them, as we have plenty of fruit to give them for the second snack time, if you forget a snack or water don’t worry we can supply that for the children.
You may have already had the opportunity to download the new app and log in, if you have brilliant! It is the same system that the juniors are rolling out so you will be able to see messages for all children from both schools one place for the first time.
Your welcome email may go into your junk/spam folders, so please check.
You can change contact information, addresses, add new people to pick up etc.
During the course of the next year this will be replace the ‘school app’.
We are so excited to see which children will be joining our CCI family in September and are currently working on an adapted induction for our new Reception children to make sure that they and their families get to know CCI before they start school in September. This will involve visits to school and ‘stay and plays’ on the field along with some virtual events for parents. More information to follow.
The NSPCC PANTS rule teaches children not to touch others in any areas usually covered by underwear.
The underpants rule reveals the impropriety of touching kids around their private parts. The rules on children's underpants explains about good touches and bad touches. This week I have talked to the children about this during assembly to follow up what they have learnt in their classrooms. You will have all received an email from me about this along with a parents’ guide should you wish to know more. This will be revisited termly in classes and 3 times a year in assemblies.
CCI Governors are looking for a Foundation Governor who would like to support the school and the governing body in promoting and developing the Christian ethos which underpins the education within Church of England schools. If you think you might be interested in this role please contact - belinda.stowe@sgmail.org.uk
The time has come for us to say a final goodbye to Miss Evans and I would like to publically thank her for her contributions to CCI. Every one of us will miss her and I know that many of you and your children will too. Miss Evans has a special quality – one where people warm to her instantly, want to talk to her and open up to her and this has made her a superb person to be at the ‘front of house’ at CCI for the last few years. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her and she always finds a way to help if she can, whilst also bringing the humour that we need to keep us all smiling. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the very best at St. Stephen’s Infants and hoping that we see her again soon. Cath – you are one in a million and it will be a real challenge to replace you at CCI. We are losing a colleague today but gaining a very good friend, thank you for everything.
Please make sure your child wears sun cream to school on hotter days and that they bring a sun hat. They can also wear a long sleeved lightweight top if have particularly fair skin – any top will do, don’t worry about it being school colours. Sandals are fine please just make sure that children can run around in these. If they have swimming and the cream you have will not withstand being washed off then feel free to send some in in their swimming bags. Children will have to reapply this themselves though as we cannot due to safeguarding guidance. Please name everything!!!
