Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We are planning to hold a disco on the field for our Y2s as their goodbye event so that they can all be together. Further details of this will follow but it should be a lovely way to say goodbye to our amazing Y2s who have coped with so much during their time here.
We are unsure as to whether we will be able to invite family members to our sports day this year so I would suggest that you assume this will be a closed event that we hold in school for the children in their year groups without spectators. I am gutted about this but it feels like the safest thing to do at this stage. We will be holding a Sports Week on 21st June where children can be in sports clothing all week and will take part in lots of different events with the sports day itself planned for 22nd June. Classes will compete against each other in a range of inclusive and competitive events. I promise we will take lots of photos for you!
We are delighted that swimming will return to the curriculum at CCI this week and can’t wait for the children to enjoy the beautiful new pool. Huge thanks to Jane Short from First Strokes for funding this project along with the donations made by families over the years.
Here is a bit information for you before your children start to swim at school.
Tree of Hope
Come and tie a ribbon on our Tree of Hope in memory of a loved one or as a simple prayer. We have renamed the yew tree in the churchyard at Christ Church Downend a Tree of Hope, as it symbolises that hope goes on even in hard times. From 20th March until Easter. White ribbons will be available.
We will be hosting the infant agility sessions again this year for our Year 1 & 2 children. They will take place over 2 days on 24 & 25th March. Can you please make sure that your child wears their PE kit on the relevant day?
Weds 24th- Crocodiles, Zebras & Cheetah
Thurs 25th- Giraffes & Penguins
We are looking for windows or gardens in the local Downend area to make an Easter themed display which can be part of our trail which will be held 1st-18th April. However simple or creative we would love you to be involved!! There will be a prize for the best display and those taking part in the trail will be entered into a prize draw to win an Easter Hamper, if they collect the letters along the trail to find the title of a famous children's book.
Please get in touch by 12th March if you would like to take part by decorating your window or garden! (Email ccieastertrail@gmail.com)
Look out for further information to share with family and friends on our Facebook page!
Don’t worry! The transfer paperwork comes out after Easter. All children are guaranteed a place at CCJ.
The parent/teacher meetings will be happening on 29th, 30th (only Cheetah), 31th (all classes except Cheetah) of March. Booking for these will go live on Friday 12th March at 4pm. You will be sent a notification when this happens
