I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the children who returned for the first time today and to the children who have been coming in all along but coped so well with yet more change.
Every single parent followed our requests were all so sensible and helpful when dropping off and picking up. The coloured clothing and staggered drop off times really helped as did the entry via different places.
All of the children stayed with their pods and didn’t try and go into any other areas or leave their pods.
The staff were incredible today and embraced getting to know new children with such enthusiasm and kindness. Because of this I am sure our children had a lovely day, despite all of the change and restrictions in place.
For me personally - it was completely emotional to the see the school properly coming back to life and to hear more people around the school. Our keyworker children have been so brilliant but are often on the other side of the school so I have not seen much of them.
It felt controlled and calm and because the children, parents and staff were fantastic, it felt as safe as it could be.
The numbers felt manageable and it was a relief to be able to have such few numbers to open more classes so thank you to those of you who opted for ‘not yet’.
Today it felt as though the school started to recover and heal from this challenging time and it was so good to welcome back more staff, parents and children.

Here’s a little video for you made by Miss Essex. Last week the KS1 children designed their own shoes using a programme called Paint in the IT Suite. They presented their designs to the rest of the class.
Thanks Miss Essex!
