Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Getting ready for September
Hello everyone!
I hope you have managed to have a break of some sort this summer and to get away for a ‘staycation’ if not abroad.
Over the past week or so I have been busy in school marking up the building and making sure we are ready for a safe return and I can see that lots of staff have been busy returning their classroom to their lovely selves following them being set up for pods. More videos will follow of outside areas when it’s stopped raining.
A few things that have cropped up that I’d like to address;
PE days - is which days should your children wear PE uniform to school?
We won’t be doing PE in the first week just to give ourselves a chance to work out an outdoor timetable and how much we need to clean the hall in between indoor sessions. Therefore we will tell you about your children’s PE days on the Inset Day.
2 snacks
Our fruit and vegetable scheme will be restarting but not until part way through the second week so please send 2 healthy snacks in with your child daily. Things like fruit, crackers, breadsticks are great.
No swimming 😔
We have been told by the LA that all swimming for school children during the school day should not resume until Spring. This sadly means our pool will not be used by our children in the Autumn Term. First Strokes will still rent it at weekends for a while as can have fewer children in the pool at once.
Reception 2021 tours
These may well be done virtually as the LA are advising this is safer and advisable. More info to follow on this once we have made a decision.
Reception 2020 virtual tours of classrooms
We had the flooring replaced over the summer so couldn’t do the videos as planned so these will be done on the Inset day too. Sorry for the delay but it was important for us that the classrooms look as they will for your children when they join us otherwise it would be pointless.
please see our Facebook page for a video of school.
Looking forward to seeing you ALL again soon 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Key information for day one of school for all children. Schools starts for Y1/2 children on Wednesday 2nd Sept and Monday 7th Sept for Reception. Reception please report to the office for your classrooms tours in wk1.
Please follow the instructions on the timetable below even though it’ll be a real faff for you to come in through the front and leave via the back gate. If people don’t follow this we will have to stagger the start and end times more meaning more difficulties for you at drop off etc. We have managed to only have 2 drop-offs because we have created this system, which allows for more people on the site at once.
Please see our Facebook page for the timetable.
All children in Y1 and Y2 will return to school on the 2nd September.
Y1 and Cheetah start at 8:40-3:05
Y2 start at 8:50-3:15
Entrance is via the front gate only and exit is the back gate only. Please follow this rule to ensure there is adequate space for all.
Remember to book your school meal via parent pay, this will be a packed lunch served to your child’s class for the start of term.
We are really looking forward to seeing you all!
I just wanted to end a very strange year with a huge thank you.
The staff have been inundated with gifts and cards with wonderfully kind words in and I’m sure they will join me in thanking you all.
The kind words are what mean the most as it has certainly been a challenging time and we are incredibly grateful to you all for your lovely messages.
Today the keyworker and SEN children were in the elliot building with Premier Sport while the staff had a briefing about September and then set to task to return their classrooms to their pre-COVID state. There will obviously still be strict safety measures in place and classrooms with be less cluttered and easier to clean but it it was so lovely to see the single desks gone and easy to clean role play and reading areas reappear.
All staff were safely back together today for the first time and we felt completely united as we set to work, having missed our colleagues and friends so much.
I would like to say well done to our amazing children for staying at home, being in school all along without friends and coming back with courage despite feeling nervous.
All of our parents and carers have been super supportive for the past 4 months and I haven’t had to deal with a single grumble even though it must have been highly stressful for you all.
The staff have worked so hard whether from home or at school and their enthusiasm for teaching children they didn’t know has astounded me showing that education and care are their priorities at all times.
I’d like to wish you all a very happy summer...put away the home learning and toast yourselves for getting through a tough 4 months. You have all been amazing!

With more of our staff returning to school and potentially wearing masks we though this video would help the children understand why.
The video is produced by Jack Hartman, the children already know him from his Maths and English videos, so we thought they would love this one!!
