Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
These children earnt Head Teacher awards for some brilliant learning today about macro habitats and story settings, being artists in both activities.
The Y2s were learning about macro habitats as part of their enquiry ‘What am I?’, thinking about mammals and where they might live.
The EYFS children were creating their own story settings for stories about nocturnal animals as part of their enquiry ‘What is dark?’.
They were all able to talk about their learning, explaining why their learning was important.
Mrs Rylands took some of our CCI children over to meet the CCJ ‘Caring Crew’ today and they really enjoyed working with the older children to make beautiful picture frames.
Thank you to the fabulous Mrs Eatwell for inviting us over!
The Christian Churches Team brought the Christmas story to life today at CCI with their wonderful puppet show.
The children LOVED the performance and thought of some very good questions at the end;
‘Why did King Herod want to be the only King?’
‘How did you make the puppets?’
‘How did you come up with the idea for this part of the story?’
Crocodile Class had a wonderful visit from Finley's mum this week, who talked to them about her role as a Community District Nurse. This was linked to our enquiry in KS1 'What might I do in the future?' and Emma really inspired the children.
Our EYFS children were lucky enough to have a performance from the Old Vic theatre school on Friday who performed the story of ’Little Wren and the Autumn Moon’.
Huge thanks to the Friends for paying for this wonderful enrichment event and making it possible for all of our children to experience music and live theatre in our school hall.
Our EYFS classes loved toasting marshmallows today as part of their learning about Bonfire Night and their enquiry ‘What is darkness?’
Our first enrichment day of 2024/5 was such an incredible way to end a very busy term.
We asked the staff to plan activities that were taken off our ‘50 ways to live life to the full’ document that we wrote last year to help children live out our vision.
This is what each class did;
Penguins and Zebras - made boats that they tested in the swimming pool and learnt how to sign their names using Makaton.
Cheetahs and Crocodiles - learnt how to speed stack cups (more photos of this to follow) and to play boom whackers and ocarinas, reading simple
music.
Giraffes and Lions - created their own marble runs out of recycling and played lots of different board games.
Tigers and Pandas - went on nature walks and created art showing autumn colours and made bird feeders.
It was wonderful to walk around the school and to see the excitement on the children’s faces. CCI really is amazing and I feel so lucky to have such incredible staff who give their all despite being exhausted!
Our Y2 children (and Cheetah Y1s) are learning so much at Christ Church this week as they ‘Experience Harvest’ with wonderfully planned activities with volunteers and staff at Christ Church.
We are so lucky that these generous people give up so much time to teach our children all about Christian festivals and inspiring us to look after our wonderful world.
From the photos, you will see lots of happy faces as the children enjoy the grounds, new connections and their learning, with KS1 children thinking about 'what makes a good friend?' in their first enquiry. All of these photos definitely show what a caring community we live in with lots of courageous learners.
A few photos of our second EYFS group enjoying their first lunchtime today. None from outside today I’m afraid due to the rain.
The staff team have been so impressed with how sensible our new lttle people are being and how polite and independent they are. We are also super impressed with the healthy and delicious lunches!
We are feeling very lucky to have such wonderful children joining CCI and are really enjoying getting to know them all.
